This presentation explores how civility serves as a cornerstone of ethical nursing practice and professional conduct, examining the ways respectful communication and collegial behavior directly influence patient safety, team performance, and workplace culture. Grounded in established professional standards, it challenges nurses and nurse leaders to move beyond simply avoiding incivility and instead actively cultivate environments where ethical accountability and mutual respect are the norm.
Designed for nurses, nurse leaders, and healthcare professionals at every level, this session is essential for anyone who has witnessed or experienced workplace incivility and wants practical strategies to address it. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of the ethical obligations that underpin professional civility, actionable tools to recognize and interrupt uncivil behavior, and a renewed commitment to fostering healthy work environments where both nurses and patients thrive.
