The Domestic Violence High Risk Team (DVHRT) Model, a nationally recognized domestic violence homicide prevention framework developed by The Geiger Institute, aims to prevent intimate partner homicides and near-lethal assaults. In this webinar, Sarah Wittig Galgano, Senior Project Specialist with The Geiger Institute, will discuss the origin, four core components, goals, and lessons learned from implementing the model in more than 80 communities. Typical team membership, including the critical role that Forensic Nurse Examiners play, will be discussed.

PRESENTER

Sarah Wittig Galgano, MSPPM Sarah Wittig Galgano is a Senior Project Specialist for The Geiger Institute where she partners with communities throughout the country to assess their existing response systems, as well as managing implementation of homicide reduction strategies and evaluating fidelity and outcomes. Wittig Galgano has provided training and technical assistance to communities of all sizes, working directly with advocates, law enforcement, prosecutors, and other criminal justice stakeholders. With a wealth of experience, she identifies community strengths and challenges to enhance homicide reduction efforts. Wittig Galgano has also provided training at various local, state, and national conferences on topics related to intimate partner violence and homicide. She has BA from the University of Iowa and received her Master of Science degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Criteria for Successful Completion:

Live attendees must join the zoom link via the LMS site, be logged in for a minimum of 90% of the session, and successfully complete the attestation and evaluation. Upon completion, a CE certificate for 1.25 contact hours will be awarded. 

Recordings of the live session will be made available within one week of the live date. 

Asynchronous attendees must utilize the LMS to obtain resource information (if available), view 100% of recording(s), complete all modules, and successfully complete the attestation and evaluation. Upon completion, a CE certificate for 1.25 contact hours will be awarded.
